Hello Fellow MFTAers.

I wanted to bring to your attention the availability of the Equine Trailways
Subcommittee report that can now be found on the DNR website.  The ETS is a
legal entity created by Public Acts 45 and 46, sometimes referred to as the “right to
ride” act. There are 46 recommendations for the improvement of horse trails and
trail facilities in the state….you can learn more from the ETS letter (attached) and
the DNR press release of the report (also attached).  There are 60 days for public
comments. Please direct your comments to
DNR-RTS@michigan.gov.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Equine Trailways Subcommittee

Draft The 2011 Recommendations Report of the Equine Trailways Subcommittee
Good news;

Many of you may have heard the news today that the Michigan Supreme
Court issued their decision July 30, with a minority opinion, that a DNR
managed trail is not a highway and the state is not liable for injuries in the
Duffy Case. This is a significant win for the DNR in the management of the
state trails system.
